A Little Beach Time

Where did we find this ringer? Jeff was a great addition to our team. He was the Roadkill King!
Michelle made it to the beach in record time...nowhere near the speed of Mickey last year, but probably before everyone expected her. She had to look around for the rest of the team so we could all cross the Finish Line at once.

I am finally getting around to updating the blog with my (Michelle) pictures.

The trip down to Portland was pretty fun for us girls. We had some fun and started to prepare for the adventure ahead. A little stop off at Cousin's during fair week! Shonny was Grand Champion with her horse and Michelle is Best in Show with her pig Wilma.

Us at the Finish. We may be the Dade, but we all survived. We had our fair share of adversity and challenge along the way, but everyone dug deep and got it done. We did things for each other that we wouldn't have done for ourselves. That's the best part of Hood to Coast.

A common site all along the course - lines to the blue rooms. Because we were in the second start wave the lines were short. Later in the day, and further along the course, the lines became.......a problem.

Annie (formerly known as gravity girl) is off in a flash of light. Van 2 now has 5 hours off while Van 1 covers its second legs. Hmmm, what will we do with the time? Eat, find a shower, try/but fail to sleep? Sure, lets do that!

This is also the Van exchange - Michelle is the last runner in Van 2 and Annie is the first runner in Van 1. Van 2 runners are finishing their first legs, and Van 1 runners are just starting their second legs. Sure it's confusing. Around 7:00 pm Friday evening.

We spent a...........how can I say this.......cold, clammy, noisy, uncomfortable night on the ground and in the Van next to the exchange point in Mist, and there was (mist). As poorly and disinclined as we all felt at 5:30 Saturday morning, We were restored and ran our third legs better than we expected. Just goes to show ya.

Runners in Van 1 have completed their first set of H2C legs, not too much the worse for wear. We're now headed for a little R & R before starting again by crossing the Williamette in downtown Portland around 7 pm. The refueling solution is...pizza! Mt. Hood in the rearview mirror, but a long way to Seaside. Gas is "cheap" in Portland - we've seen as low as 2.83. ---TBJ (Tiger Balm Junkie)

Alright, alright alright! After thousands (almost) of calls and emails asking what SFB stands for, I really havw no choice. Because this Blog is PG, and there may be children and sensitive adults listening, I'll need to disguise the answer.

Our SFB Relay Team of the '80s and '90s stood for Sh t For Brains. Hope you're all happy.

Talked to a former member of a former HTC team (SFB Relay Team) tonight. Dr. Don even flew up from Las Vegas one year to run HTC. Dedication, gung ho attitude and just plain poor judgement. Don, that PhD aint work'n right.

Long time no Blog. Since last report we've lost and replaced another runner, Mount Hood caught fire, and legs 32 and 33 swapped 2 miles.

So far the hardest part of this year's HTC has been getting to the start with 12 runners.........and we still haven't made it (I'm not even going to think about the team member with the bum hip that just got worse. No names(runner #6)).

The Grateful Dade will begin their descent to the coast at 9:00 Friday morning. Leading us off will be Annie "Gravity Girl" Moorman. Known up and down the west coast for her daring 0-G descents, Annie will barely touch the pavement as she drops 2,000 feet over the 1st 4 miles. She's dadely.

Dade Moeller & Associates is sending their best to the Hood to Coast Relay as the team Grateful Dade.
